Gain exclusive early-access to C3 2013 by attending FREE Preview Night! For three hours, the show floor will be open for attendees to get first pick at the vendors, meet their favorite creators, sign up for artist’s commission lists, and much more! SATURDAY May 25th

501ST LEGION BLASTER RANGE

Do you have what it takes to take on the rebel scum? Members of the 501st Legion host an all-ages blaster range game at their booth on the convention floor to help raise awareness and a generous donation for Autism research. Guaranteed prizes, and only $1 to play- all proceeds benefit C.S. Mott’s Children’s Hospital.

C3 CHARITY AUCTION REGISTRATION

Meet Cartman from Rock 105, donate some money to charity, and get registered for awesome auction prizes!!! Winners will be drawn on Sunday near the end of the show- MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!!! Details and registration will take place at the Rock 105 booth!

Gaming for a Cure sponsors this all-day room for the gamer in mind. Stop on by and play card and tabletop based games during convention hours and beyond! Bring a group or drop in and make new friends- there’s something for everyone to play! (located adjacent to the panel room)

Comic Books in the Classroom

Join veteran middle school math teacher Jim McClain, creator of the educational comic book SOLUTION SQUAD, as he discusses the integration of comic books in the classroom. Topics covered include lessons aligned with Common Core State Standards, remediation, and games. Everyone who attends will receive a free reproducible SOLUTION SQUAD activity for use in the classroom.

THE FREDDIE WILLIAMS EXPERIENCE

C3 Guest Freddie E. Williams II discusses his career in comics- including his time under contract at DC, working on Robin, The Flash and Seven Soldiers, teaching others how to draw digitally, and more! Find out what’s next for this superstar talent! Moderated by the nerd-culture podcast Digital Nerdage’s own Pat Kawula!

WRITE OR WRONG: A WRITER’S GUIDE TO CREATING COMICS

Join professional comics writer and C3 Guest Dirk Manning as he touches upon the fine (and not-so-fine) points of creating comics in today’s industry. Dirk’s “how-to” tips inspired a long-running column at Newsarama, a subsequent book published by Transfusion Publishing, and a rebirth of his original column at Bleeding Cool. Once you get a peek into the mind of the master, you’ll never write the same way again!

ADULT’S COSTUME CONTEST- SPONSORED BY TACO BELL

Think you have an amazing costume? Show us what you’ve got at this year’s Costume Contest, sponsored by Taco Bell and hosted by Cartman from Rock 105! Celebrity judges will be present to judge your costume and your “costume portrayal” (how convincing you are in your fabulous costume). This one’s for the kids at heart. Sign up for free at the C3 information desk by 2:45pm. The Taco Bell Costume Contest Stage is located in the convention pre-function area.

HITTING IT BIG: THE UP-AND-COMER’S PANEL

Marvel Comics artist Ryan Stegman and Image Comics artist Nick Pitarra share their perspective on “coming up” in the comic industry today, and discuss the projects that helped them “break in”. These two guys are on the verge of comics superstardom; don’t miss your chance to be able to say “I knew them when…”. Moderated by the nerd-culture podcast Digital Nerdage’s own Pat Kawula!

COMICS, CROWDFUNDING, AND YOU: SELF-PUBLISHING IN THE AGE OF KICKSTARTER

Ever wonder just what it takes to self-publish a comic using Kickstarter? C3 Guests Ryan Browne and Jeremy Bastian join forces with local comic creators Chris Meeuwes and Rob Humphrey to discuss how they each built and promoted their successfully funded comic projects using crowd funding. Ask questions, take notes, and find out about the difficulties each creator faced during the course of their campaigns!

KIDS PARADE W/ THE 501ST AND REBEL LEGIONS

All kids attending C3 are invited to meet up with the costumers from the 501st and Rebel Legions and take part in a rousing parade fit for an Emperor. Join the Legions as they march throughout the convention floor, into the main lobby of the Grand Traverse Resort, and lead the way to the Kids’ Costume Contest, located in the convention pre-function area.
