We strive to make an exciting experience for the people that attend Cherry Capital Comic Con and in that regard we continue to add interesting programming for people experience different parts of the comic book and pop culture. From interacting with stars of your favorite movies or TV shows, to learning about the comic industry from people that have made their way before, board games, awards and so much more. We are working to make your time at C4 memorable.

PREVIEW NIGHT

Gain exclusive early-access to C4 2017 by attending Preview Night! For three hours, the show floor will be open for attendees to get first pick at the vendors, meet their favorite creators, sign up for artist’s commission lists, and much more! Preview night is open to everyone!!! If you’ve never been to C4, here’s your chance to try it out before the crowds roll in on Saturday!

Cherry Capital Comic Con kicks off the first after-hours event of the show with an evening full of drinks, merriment, and art! Grab a drink with artists and featured guests from the show at this limited-access event. Sketch out your favorite characters, or check out the work of others! Join us as we pay tribute to our friend and past C4 Guest Steve Dillon. All art created at this event will be up for charity auction at Saturday Night’s After Party! VIP ticket holders only. Learn about what equipment to use, how to handle social media, and some of the common mistakes that are made when first starting a new podcast.

Long time readers have often encountered storylines where the payoff didn’t match the build up. Join Victor Dandridge, Jr., as he hosts comic creators Ryan Stegman, James Venhaus, Ryan Browne, and Brian Level in a captivating discussion in which each will get a chance to pitch “their” versions of some of comics’ most memorable stories.

The moment has finally arrived! After months of nominations, the selection committee narrowed down FOUR finalists for the first-ever Gary Reed Independent Creator of the Year Award. Join us as we announce who the inaugural recipient of the award will be, and who was voted as most honoring the spirit of Gary Reed in independent comics. Will it be Dirk Manning, Joe Pruett, Seth Damoose, or Travis McIntire? Find out here!

The after-hours festivities commence with the C4 Silent Art Auction from 8pm-10pm- featuring all of the art created at Friday Night’s Steve Dillon Drink & Draw! A portion of the proceeds from the Art Auction will go to support our 2017 charity- THE HERO INITIATIVE- in honor of Steve Dillon. During the Art Auction, grab a drink from the cash bar and gear up for C4 KARAOKE, warming up at the 9pm hour and going steady through the end of the evening! Cool art, a good cause, and a night of raucous antics await as we party comic con style! Open to all convention ticketholders 21 years of age or older.

All kids attending C4 are invited to meet up with the costumers from the 501st and Rebel Legions and take part in a rousing parade fit for an Emperor. Join the Legions as they march throughout the convention floor and into the main lobby of the Grand Traverse Resort- officially opening the convention floor for the day.

SOLUTION SQUAD PUTS THE “M” IN STEM

Join Solution Squad creator Jim McLain as he takes you on a guided tour through his revolutionary 162-page STEM graphic novel featuring math-based superheroes, whose names and abilities come from math concepts that many students find difficult to relate to and retain. Jim will illustrate direct instruction, indirect instruction, and the lesson launch points throughout the book, and also provide you with the resources to use Solution Squad in the classroom just as soon as you return- including a free digital download of issue #1 and the accompanying lesson on prime numbers that is good for fourth grade and above!

LET’S MAKE A VILLAIN

Creating great villains is essential for making great stories – whether you love their every appearance or just love to hate them. Seven-time Harvey Award nominated husband and wife action faction Comfort Love and Adam Withers lead this seminar in two parts: first, you’ll learn what makes great villains in both writing and in art. Then, Comfort & Adam will invite the audience to participate in creating a new villain which will be designed and drawn live. There may even be a special guest present to assist in the process…
